Post-Orientation

And the orientation has also come to an end! We’re familiar with the camp site and its rules. Today we walked around the village that the site is situated in, and even talked with some of the locals – not to mention the cute kids! The "downtown" area is small, but has small shops, a few tailors, and two schools - primary and secondary - for local children and some from neighboring villages.
Tomorrow we start classes and the academic portion of the program. It’s definitely going to be challenging, but I’m so excited and ready for all the field work and lectures. We’ll be going into the local areas and looking at the common environmental problems they face every day. Hopefully we’ll be able to learn about them enough to make a good impact and improve their situations within the next month.
That’s all for now! I hope you’re all having great summers and having a wonderful time. Miss you all, thanks for reading!

Making breakfast with the staff!

Blossoming tree branches outside our "banda"

Just waving hello to some of the smaller locals!

  2. Wow, looks like you're having fun over there! The pictures are really pretty. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them! By the way, I love that you're reppin the Nell gear over there! Also, Galen isn't quite sure what to think about the first season of Mad Men. I don't think he appreciates the BA-ness of Don Draper like we do. Anyway, I hope you're having fun over there! Keep the posts coming!
